Revision of Air Quality Monitoring Activities in Solo (Indonesia), December 2011
The city of Solo is currently conducting Air Quality Monitoring (AQMt). In line with the project’s activities, national experts teamed up with an international expert in order to review the current AQMt system in December 2011. The revision showed that there is a lack of technical and administrative resources and expertise regarding AQMt in Solo. The current air quality data does thus neither reflect the international quality criteria nor does the set-up of the AQMt allow for a proper assessment of the air quality in relation to the Indonesian or International Air Quality Standards. Based on these results, the expert team elaborated the necessary steps to improve the existing AQMt system in place in Solo, how to improve cooperation with the local Universities of Solo. The team also determined the first steps for an AQMt strategy for the city.
Air Quality Monitoring and quality check of the monitoring station in Palembang (Indonesia), December 2011
In December 2011, a team of national and international experts performed a quality check of the newly upgraded mobile monitoring station of Palembang, owned by the Palembang Municipality. The upgrade of the monitoring station was performed correctly and can now provide reliable data sets for selected pollutants. The AQMt sites had been reviewed by the experts as well. The existing one year indicative measurement programme for Palembang was reviewed too and is scheduled to start in February 2012. The interpretation of the data gained will serve as a basis for developing a mid-term/long-term AQMt programme and partially for the elaboration of the Clean Air Plan for Palembang.
