Clean Air for Smaller Cities in the ASEAN Region

Activities so far:

A total of 10 cities that comply with project's requirements have been included into the long list of potential cities to be included in the project. PCD invited the long list cities (12 cities) to submit the letter of intent to join the project. Those cities are Hat Yai, Chiang Mai, Nakhon Ratchasima, Udonthani, Suratthani, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Pattaya, U-bon Ratchathani, Phitsanulok, Phuket, and Song Kla.
Those 6 cities have submitted the city documents required for selection process upon the request made by the PCD. (Chiang Mai, Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Si Thammarat, U-donThani, Hat Yai)
Base on the city selection criteria, two (2) cities were selected by PCD and the project team in June 2009: Download cities'profile here Chiang Mai and Nakhon Ratchasima
The project team and international experts visited Chiang Mai and Nakorn Ratchasima to develop the Road Map toward a Clean Air Plan in June and September 2009 respectively.
The project team and PCD presented a draft activities toward a Clean Air Plan (Road Map) to City of Chiang Mai and City of Nakorn Ratchasima in September and November 2009 respectively.
Road Map mission to plan the activities toward a Clean Air Plan for both cities have been submitted to the Mayors in November 2009.
The first roundtable event was held on 27 January 2010 in Chiang Mai. 200 participants from various groups of stakeholders have been engaged into the developement of Vision for Clean Air Plan.
Following the first roundtable, the key stakeholders were invited to set up the Goals of Chinag Mai's Clean Air Plan. The workshop was held on 15-16 February 2010.
